From Addiction to Faith: A Journey of Hope and Recovery
From attending addiction recovery meetings based on the Big Book of Alcoholics Anonymous to discovering the transformative power of Life Recovery Christian 12 Step meetings and Bible studies, I have successfully navigated a path that led me back to church. This journey not only provided the strength needed to overcome addiction but also inspired the creation of this platform to guide and support others on their own road to recovery and spiritual growth. Here, we embrace faith-driven recovery as a cornerstone, offering a place where hope, healing, and connection thrive.
1996 I turned my life over to sobriety and church; but I didn’t address my addiction. When I became over stressed; I ended up at my family members that still drank and I couldn’t say no. For 20 years, I slipped deeper into the grip of alcohol, unaware of the destructive path it was carving in my life. My addiction clouded my judgment, alienated me from loved ones, and ultimately led to a tragedy I can never undo. One fateful day, my drinking resulted in a vehicular homicide that claimed the life of a family member. In the blink of an eye, I found myself in jail, facing a 5+ year sentence and grappling with the weight of my actions. This moment forced me to confront the devastating consequences of my choices—a sobering reality that I could no longer deny. As I reflect on this, I now understand the power of accountability, the importance of seeking help, and the possibility of rebuilding a life even after unimaginable loss. Though the road ahead is long, I am committed to making amends and ensuring that my story serves as a warning and a beacon of hope for those who may still be struggling.
Through the power of faith, I made a path to the AA Big Book, the Life Recovery Christian 12 Step, and Bible Study, I started the journey to healing and redemption. These steps brought me back home—back to myself, back to God, and back to a community of believers who welcomed me with open arms. Today, I share my story to inspire others and to emphasize the importance of grace, accountability, and the transformative power of fellowship. If you are struggling, know that it is never too late to turn your life around.
